Finding Local Wisdom Through Short Stories

This book contains 20 short stories written by 11 authors with diverse cultures and regions, each of which includes at least a story of traditional values which then lead the reader to enjoy and take a sense of value. Benny Arnas contains three short stories; view (have) a better boy than a girl, typical of the science of witchcraft in South Sumatra, and Art tells the long-lost. Cess Cesilia contains some sort of tradition of Balinese and Batak Ngaben, and Mangulosi. Hanna Fransisca in two short stories (Sembayang Supper and the Feast of the Ghost) contains definitions of happiness and respect the views of the (ghost), the ancestor in relation to improving the lives of people Singkawang. In general, what and how the short story was written as well as the traditional values contained have been disclosed in the "prologue" which was written by the Free Hearty. cultural observer who is also a lecturer at Al-Azhar Uninversitas Jakarta, at the beginning of the book "Ghost Kolecer and Hari Raya: 20 Short Stories Local Wisdom."

Local Wisdom and features Locality

Local wisdom according to Prof.. Chatcharee Naritoom from Kasetsart University, Thailand is the knowledge found in or suggested by the traditional communities through the accumulated experience of trial and integrated with an understanding of the environment (both natural and cultural) that exist around them. Furthermore, local wisdom can be drawn into the wider environment - in this case the global community - albeit initially only be local. Furthermore, according to Prof. Chatcharee Naritoom, local wisdom of adequate and appropriate will have to earn profits, reduce costs and improve production efficiency, and ultimately improve the quality of life.

In general, local wisdom (in the Department of Social Services website) considered view of life and science and various livelihood strategies that intangible activities carried out by local communities in responding to various problems in fulfilling their needs. With these understandings, not just the value of local wisdom traditions or features but merely localities that have a tradition of power-in order for to realize the expectations or values of the establishment who are also universal human yearning didamba-. As in the words of Prof. sagangan. Riris K. Toha-Sarmpaet that the human longing for happiness in general, the local wisdom can be said the first step that must be done to reach it.

It is true that the 20 short stories in this book contains the value or local characteristics, but not all of them managed to show a local or indigenous knowledge is often also referred to as the desired local genius in his book covers. Most are stuck in the sense that even local characteristics instead of showing superiority instead - in a global sense - which is expected to inhibit happiness. For example on the short story "Child Mothers Back" by Benny Arnas, where the views got better than boys to have a daughter that can not be classified in local knowledge as yet were not able to answer the question of time. Now, in big cities, parents prefer to invest their wealth in old age will be inattentive, careless life in the nursing home without thinking of the elite children's lives. Similarly, the short story works Nenden Lilis Market Day which tells about the life of a trader in a market that had many children and should owe here and there to their daily living, including capital for their business. This kind of life is a real picture of who is around us, and wisdom that there is universal wisdom where even the poor, but in a couple of parents were desperately short stories told his children keep the school.

Some stories, such as Lali Panggora, Waiting for the Sun, Pastu, Baminantu, Seven, Between Bali-Balige, even Kolecer (The title) emphasize that this collection of short stories more accurately classified on the short story with a value of locality or local characteristics.

Some local knowledge

Outlook for menyublimkan event with another event, is one of the characteristics of local wisdom. For example in the village of Bihar, India. There, each gave birth to a daughter, parents are required to plant 10 fruit tree seedlings. Thus, there is always a harvest of fruit that can be enjoyed either in whole or sold for the village community. For the Dayak, the ancestral tomb area is an area of land that should not be attempted. Thus, indirectly, the Dayaks managed to do good conservation of existing vegetation and fauna in that environment. Something like this is implicitly done by Hanna Fransisca, Gunawan Maryanto, and Sutan Iwan Soekry Munaf through short stories.

Dinner Sembayang tells how the values contained in the ordinances of New Year's Eve dish, it is rather smelly superstition, but there are clear expectations. Similarly, the tradition of "burning money sembayang" Ghost Feast in the short story. In the short story "Sarpakenaka" killing members of the PKI dikelindankan partisan puppet menyungging way to skin a human body! And no less tragic, albino people were transformed into a giant baby in the short story "Mr. Governor heard this story yet." This is typical of the local wisdom of Indonesia in general. Disguising it with something else. Contohlah "pamali" for the people of Sunda. Usually there is something very logical suggestion behind / ban.

Lissoi

In the end, there was one paper called Lissoi titled Epilogue. Lissoi is a song written that made Nahum Situmorang has worldwide. Apparently, this is the real hope in making this book, there are plenty of local knowledge which will be reflected universal values.

And apparently, with the contents of which are still much dispute the value of tradition with the universal values contained in a few short stories in the book, hoping it might be still a mere hope.
